Choosing your island escape
No two islands promise the same trip. The Maldives is the purist's choice — one resort, one reef, an overwater villa where the day's biggest decision is snorkel or spa. Bali layers culture over coastline: jungle temples, rice-terrace walks and a food scene that rewards a two-week stay. Zanzibar adds history to the beach — the carved doors and spice markets of Stone Town are a short drive from powder-white sand — while Santorini trades sand for caldera views and some of the Mediterranean's best cellar doors.
The right pick comes down to pace. Timing an island trip
Island weather is about monsoon windows, not seasons.
